Kawamoto Petanque / 川本ペタンク

Preparing ourselves for the husby and wife tournament by finding out the exact location of terrain and also to measuring the transportation time from my aunt's where we staied, we have visited Kawamoto, Saitama a day before. It was painfully long travel from Hiratsuka as we found trafic jam along the ways.

We were the first person to arrive at terrain but soon club members started to gother up for the preparation. I admit that I was envy that there are so many members who showed up. Great organization by all the members of Kawamoto Petanque and I would like to pay respect for that.

Since we were the only person who did not have anything to do, we helped pick some trashes... This by the way is mandetory at Hiratsuka beach, as "keeping the beach clean" is one of our moto as club. We have had few single games and I liked the terrain very much. People at Kawamoto told us that along with the "omatsuri hiroba", they have 3 other location to play petanque, including 1 with illumination for the night time play... The terrain has had parking lot appearance. Hard surface with a lot of grabbels. The grabbel layers allow me to stop or curve with spin more sufficient than any other terrain I have ever plaied. But that does not mean I can perform well. You have to be able to drop the boule at the target area precisely. I liked the terrain because it allowes me to test what I have been practicing.

夫婦杯前日に、宿泊した叔母の家からの移動時間と、場所の確認をすべく、埼玉県深谷市の川本を訪れました。　行く先々で渋滞に巻き込まれ散々な往路となりました。　会場には川本ペタンクの皆さんも集まってきて、坦々と準備作業を進められてました。　この準備のために、多くのメンバーの方々がお集りになり、弱小クラブの我々は非常に羨ましく感じました。　川本ペタンクの素晴らしい組織力に脱帽です。　我々はやる事もなかったので、平塚ビーチでは恒例のゴミ拾いを手伝いました。　何しろ、”ビーチをきれいに使おう”は我々のモットーですから得意なんです。

皆さんは準備作業で忙しかったので、我々だけでシングル・ゲームを行いましたが、すぐにテランを気に入りました。　クラブの方々によると、会場となった”お祭り広場”以外に3か所練習場があり、内一つはナイター設備が入っているそうです。　まあ、何とも羨ましい。　このテランは駐車場のような外観でした。　固い地面に沢山の砂利が敷き詰めてありました。　この砂利の層が、スピンや変化球を、私がプレーした他のどのテランよりも思った通りに再現してくれました。　だからと言って、上手くプレーできると言う訳ではありません。　狙ったポイントに正確に落とす事が出来なければ意味がありません。　それでも私が気に入ったのは、練習してきた技術が活かせるテランだったからです。
